It’s the latest Tom Hanks Hollywood hit; Captain Phillips opened last weekend and made $26 million.
On Tuesday night, the Minnesota stars of the movie had their own local premiere. They rolled out the red carpet at the Grandview Theater in St. Paul.
The movie's casting crew came to Minnesota before filming. They needed actors to play the roles of the pirates who take over the ship.
Four Minneapolis Somali men ended up with roles in the movie.
Though they prepared for the role for months, these local actors didn't actually meet Tom Hanks until shooting the first scene.
