A Washington County director and a Forest Lake outreach coordinator were among those honored for “outstanding contributions” to the state’s public health system.
The Minnesota Department of Health presented 2013 Community Health Awards to Washington County Department of Public Health and Environment Director Lowell Johnson and Fairview Lakes Health Services Community Health Outreach Coordinator Kathy Bystrom during the annual conference in Brainerd.
Johnson was honored with the Jim Parker Leadership Award for passion and creativity in public health education, according to Washington County officials, and Bystrom received a Certificate of Recognition for creating “innovative partnerships” that support youth and families.
Winners are nominated by peers and chosen by the State Community Health Services Advisory Committee.
