Sunday, Oct. 20, is the 30th anniversary of the Beruit Lebanon barracks bombing, which took the lives of 241 service members, who were mostly Marines, including five Minnesotans.
There were two events that honored them at Fort Snelling Sunday.

In the first event a Marine joined the flag line and the bell rang after each of the names of the five Marines from Minnesota were called.

A gathering was held at 5:30 p.m. at the three gravesites of some of the Marines. There was an invocation, music, the Marine Color Guard attended and TAPS was played.

Relatives were able to put crosses made of cedar at each of the gravesites.
