A 15-year-old boy was sentenced on Tuesday for his role in the assault of a 26-year-old man that occurred on the East Side of St. Paul in August.

Ray Widstrand was jumped Sunday, Aug. 4 and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He is still recovering from the attack.

Witnesses said a fight broke out between a group of girls. At the same time Widstrand was walking up the street when he was punched. According to police, that's when a group of kids started kicking and stomping on him. They even took his pants. Many of the kids involved are believed to be members of the East Side Boyz or the Ham Crazy Gang.

According Dennis Gerhardstein with Ramsey County, the 15-year-old boy was sentenced to 18-24 months in a secure juvenile facility and enhanced supervision through Extended Jurisdiction Juvenile designation until he turns 21-years-old. He also received a "103 month stayed adult sentence."

Two other juveniles along with 19-year-old Isaac Maiden are awaiting court dates in this case.
