Daylight saving time comes to an end Sunday, Nov. 3, at 2 a.m.
Not only is it time to change the clocks back and hour, but fire officials also say it’s a good time to check to see if your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are in working order.
On Wednesday, you can pick up free 9-volt batteries for your smoke alarms at any Minneapolis fire station.
According to fire officials, nearly one in four deadly fires happen in homes without working smoke detectors. They recommend that you change your batteries every time you change your clocks.
The free batteries are available on a first-come first-serve basis.
