St. Paul police say the woman who hit a light pole and drove nearly a mile with the pole on top of her car before stopping has been identified and cited.

Police were called around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, and spotted the car on the 300 block of Edmund Avenue. According to police, the woman hit the pole and sign on Rice Street and drove ¾ of a mile with the 15-foot pole on her car, hitting parked cars as she went.

Police say the driver fled the scene and was later identified as 18-year-old Lucille Vue of St. Paul.

Vue was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, inattentive driving, and violating her instructional permit. Police say she was able to provide proof of insurance.
