Sheridan Memorial Park in Minneapolis echoed with cheers this Veterans Day.

Howard Weller, an 85 year old World War II Veteran, was among those celebrating the new veterans memorial unveiled on Monday.
Weller is the last surviving member of a group of WWII vets pushing for a site to honor veterans on the Mississippi River. The effort was led by the late Ed Karbo Senior.

"I hope and I know that Eddie Karbo is watching and taking it all in with his freedom guys. And I just can't say enough how happy I am," said Weller at the unveiling ceremony.

The memorial will honor all Minnesota veterans and will feature a central sculpture on a circular plaza.
It should be complete by next May.
