For 10 years, a small but very active nonprofit based in Minnesota has been working miracles around the world. The "Smile Network," founded by Kim Valentini, has organized groups of medical and lay volunteers who go to third world countries to fix the cleft lips and palates of the poor and unfortunate.

But a recent trip by the "Smile Network" to Puebla, Mexico, was unusual in that it included a young man who is well-known throughout the U.S. for his dynamic performance on recent episodes of NBC's "The Voice".

Nicholas David created a sensation on the TV program with his amazing instrument playing and passionate renditions of old standards and songs he composed himself.

Busy as he is, after his national success Nicholas took time out to go to Mexico and help with the "Smile Network's" latest mission. He visited the home of a desperately poor family whose seven month old son "Angel" was severely disfigured with cleft lips and palate.

A few days days later, Nicholas had the honor of taking the baby from his mothers arms and carrying him into surgery. Within a couple of hours the magic hands of esteemed pediatric surgeon Bob Wood from Gillette Children's Hospital transformed "Angel" into a normal looking child.

"Angel" is just one of the more than 120 children that had their lives changed for the better by the volunteers from  the "Smile Network" in less than two weeks.

When Nicholas David sang "You are so beautiful" to the children of Puebla it really struck a chord.
