Minnesota Wild players are trading in their hockey gear for aprons Monday night.
The team is hosting “Wild About Children,” an event to raise money for Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. Wild players will serve as celebrity waiters at the Union Depot for about 300 guests.
Since the event started nine years ago, organizers say $900,000 has been raised.
Each season, one family is picked to be a spokesperson for the event; this year it’s the family of 4-year-old Nolan Rock, who is being treated at Children’s for epilepsy. He has had two brain surgeries at Children’s and has spent a “significant amount of time” there for monitoring, hospital officials say.
The event takes place at 6 p.m. Monday at the Union Depot in downtown St. Paul. For more information, visit www.wild.com/wac.
