Two children died and three other people were injured after a collision between a truck and an SUV in Pierce County, Wis.
Sheriff's officials say an 11-year-old girl in the vehicle died at the scene of the crash Thursday afternoon in Prescott. Another passenger, a 5-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Kari Milberg, 32 of Centuria, and two other passengers, Milberg's 3-year-old son and her 5-year-old niece, were taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul for treatment of undetermined injuries. Milberg was ejected from the vehicle.

According to authorities, the two children who died were Milberg's daughter and niece. Police believe Milberg was on her way to her sister's house.

Authorities said Jose Mendoza, 24 of Rockford, Ill., was driving the box truck. Neither Mendoza or his two passengers were injured. The crash happened about 3:40 p.m. on Highway 35.
Sheriff Nancy Hove initially said Friday road conditions were not a factor in the crash; however, police cannot completely rule out weather as a factor at this time.

Wisconsin authorities are working to reconstruct the accident.

A family friend says a memorial fund has been established for the 5-year-old niece:
