Doctors have finished their first round of amputations on the University of Duluth student who nearly froze to death.
Doctors amputated the tips of Alyssa Lommel's toes on one foot and all of her toes on her other foot Monday.
Her mother said on her CaringBridge site that she should still be able to walk with shoe inserts.
Doctors plan to do surgery on Lommel's fingers in about two weeks.
Police say Lommel, a sophomore from St. Cloud, had been out drinking with friends Dec. 6 and was dropped off at her Duluth house around midnight.
A passer-by spotted Lommel on the front stoop of the house next door about nine hours later suffering from severe hypothermia.
