Chisago Lakes has some big adjustments on its plate just now, according to coach Craig Walker. It’s adjusting to more physical play in the Mississippi 8 Conference, in which the Wildcats are playing for the first time after leaving the North Suburban Conference.
More to the point, they’re doing that without point guard Sam Forslund, who tore her ACL in practice about a week ago and is out for the remainder of her senior season.
So Rogers got physical with the Wildcats, pressured their young guards, scored 34 points off of Chisago turnovers, and escaped with a 67-58 win in its first visit to Chisago that anyone can remember. Rogers’ victory came in the Game of the Week as selected by Northstar Girls Hoops. Additional information on this and other games can be viewed at www.northstargirlshoops.com.
Junior guards Taylor Anderson, Taylor Paulsrud and Bailey Miller led Rogers with 47 total points among them on 17-of-34 shooting, including 7-of-12 3-pointers, plus 12 steals. Six-foot-5-inch senior post Bryanna Fernstrom, an Iowa State recruit, scored 27 points with 8 rebounds for Chisago.
The No. 10AAA Wildcats drop to 7-2, while Rogers moves to 7-3 and remains undefeated against opponents below Class AAAA.
