Minnesota Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon says she won't join Gov. Mark Dayton in his bid for a second term.
Prettner Solon announced her decision Tuesday. She says she'll finish her term.
The former state senator from Duluth brought northern Minnesota appeal to Dayton's first run in 2010.
Prettner Solon has kept a low profile since. An exception was her 2012 sky dive to the Capitol lawn to show support to military families. She led a panel studying Capitol security and oversaw an outreach initiative concentrating on senior citizens.
Several past Minnesota governors have seen a changeover in their lieutenant governors. It has been almost four decades since a No. 2 assumed the top spot, when Democratic Rudy Perpich became governor in late 1976.
