The Metrodome roof is starting to become a thing of the past on Saturday.
Demolition crews say the snow will help the deflation process.
"We are not encouraging a lot of people to come down here," says Michele Kelm-Helgen, the chairwoman of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority.
She says it won't at all be like the implosion of Met Center in Bloomington in the 1990's. "It is different," she says. "You know it's the roof deflating. It's not going to be like a one, two, three, deflate."
Once the roof does come down, Mortenson Construction says other demolition will follow quickly.
"The true demolition will really get underway next week as we begin to demolish some of the loading dock," says Allen Troshinsky of Mortenson Construction. "So physical changes to the building will begin to be noticed within the next week or so."
