A judge ruled that Aaron Schaffhausen will have to pay his ex-wife at least $14,000 in restitution after murdering their three daughters. The restitution will cover medical expenses, counseling expenses and lost wages for Jessica Peterson.

Last July, Aaron Schaffhausen was convicted of killing Amara, Sophie and Cecilia at their Wisconsin home in River Falls and is now serving a life sentence.

During the hearing, the defense argued that not enough proof of the mother's loss has been submitted to the court, a claim the prosecutor called "outrageous" and "disturbing."

Jessica was not in the courtroom Friday.

Schaffhausen is not currently working in prison, and prosecutor Gary Freyberg says it remains to be seen if Schaffhausen will ever pay the money in full.
