The Menomonie Police Department and Dunn County Medical Examiner are investigating after a University of Wisconsin-Stout student was found dead Wednesday morning.

Emergency responders were called to the 1000 block of Sixth Street around 5:30 a.m. after a report of an unresponsive 23-year-old woman found in her bedroom. She was identified as Jesse Jensen from Owen, Wis.

Owen’s roommate, police and EMS all tried lifesaving efforts, which were unsuccessful, police say.

According to the university, Jensen was a senior majoring in industrial design with a minor in business administration.

Chancellor Charles W. Sorensen has issued a statement about the death:

“Our hearts and prayers go out to Jesse’s family and friends, and we offer our condolences to them on the loss of this very promising young woman,” Sorensen said. “We will do everything possible to help them find comfort during this time of great sorrow.”

The cause of death is still under investigation. At this point, foul play is not suspected.
