Kids and teachers are braving the cold Friday morning for a march down Nicollet Mall.
The YWCA is promoting early childhood education, saying that it can significantly help to close the achievement gap. More than 100 kids and teachers are expected to join the march to ask Minnesota legislators to make early childhood education a top priority for legislative action.
All-day kindergarten was passed by the Minnesota legislature last year. This session, the group is focusing on bills to end the per-child cap for scholarships.
This march is part of Early Childhood Education Awareness Month at the YWCA of Minneapolis. It starts at 10:30 a.m. at the YWCA of Minneapolis Downtown Center.
