Chanhassen's Frank Ragnow announced Friday he will play college football with the University of Arkansas instead of the University of Minnesota or Florida State University. Ragnow announced his decision in a press conference at Chanhassen High School.
Ragnow told KSTP he will compete for a starting job at center next year, a big reason why he chose Arkansas over Minnesota. The Gophers could not guarantee Ragnow would see playing time and might have redshirted him his freshman year.
Ragnow talked with Gophers head coach Jerry Kill and offensive coordinator Matt Limegrover frequently throughout the recruiting process. KSTP learned he had a long talk with Limegrover Thursday night when he told the team he would choose Arkansas instead.
Minnesota wasn't the only school to lose out on a big recruit though. According to ESPN, Ragnow had offers from 20 schools, but narrowed it down to three schools before announcing his decision Friday.
His decision comes less than a week before national signing day next Wednesday.
Ragnow is currently playing basketball for Chanhassen.
