There is another twist in the developments with the proposed Southwest Light Rail Line project.
On Wednesday, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board urged project managers to conduct a feasibility and cost study of tunneling under the Kenilworth Corridor.
The board doesn't want to disrupt that channel above ground.
"We get a lot of recreational use in the channel and this would have a significant impact potentially on the way people experience that park," said Bruce Chamberlain, assistant superintendent for planning.
Just last week, new studies confirmed the two best options were a shallow light rail tunnel through the Kenilworth Corridor in Minneapolis, not a completely underground one, or a re-route of freight rail through St. Louis Park.
