Matt Cassel has officially opted out the second year of his contract, according to a report Friday. Cassel had until Friday to make his decision and enter free agency, leaving Christian Ponder as the only quarterback under contract.
KSTP's Darren Wolfson first reported Cassel would opt out of his contract earlier this week. Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reported the news Friday. Cassel was expected to make $3.7 million next season with the Vikings.
