U of M Students Alerted of Armed Robbery Off Campus

Minneapolis police are investigating a report of an armed robbery near the University of Minnesota campus.

According to an alert to students from the university, it happened Monday, around 9 p.m., off campus, in the Como neighborhood near the intersection of 17th Avenue Southeast and Como Avenue Southeast.

Two suspects called the student to the opposite side of the street asking directions when she was on her way home. According to the alert, one suspect pulled a semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at the victim. The second suspect grabbed the victim's backpack and wallet, and demanded the victim empty her pockets. The suspects fled on foot southbound on 17th Avenue.

The victim was not injured.
