Eight Red Knights seniors had one last chance to realize the dream of playing at State.
Wayzata entered the postseason as the 4-seed in Section 6AA, but earned a signature win by upsetting the state's top-ranked team, Hopkins, in the section semifinals on the strength of two first-period goals.
The teams waited until late in their Section Final to set off the fireworks that culminated in a goal to remember - which sent one team to its long-awaited return to the state tournament.
BSM entered the section final 24-2-1, Wayzata came in 19-6-1. The teams tied their meeting earlier this season, drawing 3-3 back in November.
