So far this winter we've had 45 days below zero and 35 days with measurable snow fall.
At this point, it appears as if there is no letup of snow and cold this winter. Monday morning was a messy commute for drivers.
"It's been a bad, bad winter," one driver said.
By mid afternoon MnDOT had made good headway on the roads.
"We've got full crews on at all truck stations and we will remain on till the snow is done," Kent Barnard of MnDOT said.
MnDOT crews know the roads well since they say it's been the busiest winter they've had in three years. In fact, MnDOT says they've had crews out so much they've almost doubled the salt usage in the metro area compared to last winter.
"We're still doing good on salt for this winter, although Mother Nature is going to determine how we are sitting by the end of winter season," he said.
Snowfall for this winter is at 38.2 inches total.
"You get used to it, you just drive," one driver said.
