A number of mattress companies and furniture stores draw in shoppers with popular Presidents Day sales.
For those in the market for a new mattress, Angie Hicks, founder of Angie's List, has some advice.
Many people have heard that you should replace your mattress every eight years, Hicks said that's not true. Some mattresses last less than eight years, while higher quality mattresses can last much longer.
Another myth involves dust mites, and Hicks said that while mites love the mattress environment, there's still debate over how much weight they add to your bed. Hicks said to make sure you regularly wash your sheets and mattress cover to minimize mites.
You don't have to worry about flipping your mattress, Hicks said, unless you have a two-sided mattress.
