President Barack Obama is expected to visit the Twin Cities sometime next week, KSTP confirmed with the state DFL party.

According to the Star Tribune and the Pioneer Press, Obama is coming Wednesday and is expected to discuss what the White House described as an "event on the economy."

Obama was last in Minnesota about a year ago when he made a call for action to curb gun violence during a speech in North Minneapolis. That was weeks after a mass shooting in Newtown, Conn., that left 20 children and six adults dead.

Vice President Joe Biden was in Minneapolis Wednesday for a private fundraiser.

No further details about next week’s visit were available.
