In what was easily the best game of the Girls State Hockey Tournament's quarterfinal round, Lakeville North survived a wild swing sparked by two scoring plays going to replay eventually outlasting Mounds View in three overtimes.
59-seconds into the sixth period of play - the third overtime - Lakeville North's Morgan Manes redirected Dani Sadek's casual slapshot from the point past Mounds View keeper Mary Dingman for the game-winning goal.
Manes admitted in the postgame press conference she didn't even know the tipped puck went in the net - only realizing she'd scored as teammates raised their sticks, cheered and rushed toward her.

Manes heroics almost weren't needed. In the opening minutes of the third period, Lakeville North appeared to take a 3-1 lead. But replays showed the puck went in off an attacking player's skate - resulting in a waved-off goal.
Moments later, Mounds View's Bailey Thompson bounced a loose puck into the net off Panthers keeper Abby Cooper prompting another review. This time the goal stood, providing the 2-2 score that carried into overtime and beyond.
Alexis Joyce and Maddie McGlade scored the game's first goals in the second period to give North a 2-0 lead.
Mounds View's Bella Sutton struck later in the second to make it 2-1.
Dingman made 40 saves in the loss. Cooper turned aside 28 shots in earning the win.
Lakeville North advances to play Benilde-St Margaret's in the Class AA Semifinals on Friday. B-S-M defeated the Panthers 2-0 in a regular season meeting.
