Multiple Crashes Closed NB I-35 Near Lakeville Friday After Snow

Snow made its way across the Twin Cities again Friday. The fluffy stuff comes in addition to Friday's cold, single digit temperatures.

It's already causing traffic woes. Interstate 35 northbound was closed due to multiple cars blocking the freeway following an accident near County Road 50 around 1 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The state patrol said as many as 50 cars were involved in minor crashes, went off the road or spun out.

No serious injuries were reported, according to the state patrol. The freeway has since reopened.

One to two inches of snow fell across the metro by 3 p.m., with higher amount falling to the south, Meteorologist Ken Barlow said.

As always, the snow and cold comes with problems. Minnesota residents have already been expressing trouble getting their ice houses off lakes across the state by DNR-imposed deadlines coming up next week.

The road conditions make it difficult for emergency vehicles to navigate streets. St. Paul will begin enforcing winter parking conditions. Seasonal parking restrictions are already under way in Minneapolis.

Unfortunately, most of next week looks cold as well, but warmer weather is a possibility by this time next week, Ken says.
