Google and the University of Minnesota are teaming up together. The partnership will create new technology that may change your life.
Over the last year the U of M has worked on a Google prototype smartphone fitted with 3D sensors called Project Tango. The phone emits pulses of infrared light and records how it is reflected back allowing it to build a detailed depth map of the surrounding space.
The technology will create a indoor GPS 3D model in real time.
The smartphone isn't available yet, but it may be for sale in the next few years.
