Rep. Rena Moran, DFL-St. Paul, is sponsoring a bill that provides $200,000 for dementia outreach and education in minority communities.
Minorities are less likely to be diagnosed or seek help for dementia, according to the Alzheimer's Association of Minnesota-North Dakota.
The goal is to develop portable services and position them in minority communities so people are more likely to seek help.
If you are a caregiver or know someone who needs help contact the Alzheimer's Association of Minnesota - North Dakota or call the helpline anytime at 800-272-3900.
Additionally, Volunteers of America Minnesota organizes a memory loss support group specifically for African Americans. You may reach Dorothea Harris at 952-945-4175.
