Thursday provided plenty of excitement at Day 2 of the 2014 Boys' State Hockey Tournament. Eight Class AA teams battled for the right to advance to Friday's semifinal matchups at the Xcel Energy Center.
Lakeville North triumphed over Roseau 2-1 in overtime to kickstart Thursday's action. Freshman Henry Enebak scored the game-winning goal a little over a minute into the extra period.
Eden Prairie beat Centennial 4-3 in the following game. Eden Prairie raced out to a 3-0 lead and led 4-1 after the first period, but Centennial scored twice in the second period to make it a exciting contest once again. Eden Prairie and Lakeville North play at 6 p.m. on Friday.
In the third game, Edina spoiled Stillwater's first appearance at the State Tournament by dominating the Ponies 6-1. Tyler Nanne scored a hat trick in the first period and finished with four goals for the Hornets.
Eagan shutout Duluth East 3-0 in the nightcap. Max Elsenheimer scored twice and Kyle Stebbing added an empty netter late as Eagan recorded its first shutout since December 2012. Edina and Eagan will play at 8 p.m. on Friday.
