Lane closures are expected to cause delays on Interstate 35E in St. Paul and Maplewood between Maryland Avenue and Highway 36.
The left lane of both directions of I-35E will be closed from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. Mondays through Saturdays for several weeks, beginning March 10.
The lane closures are needed as crews work on center pier construction for the new Wheelock Parkway and Arlington Avenue bridges. The nightly lane closures are expected to last through late March.
The work is part of the I-35E MnPASS project, which aims to add a MnPASS lane between Little Canada Road and Maryland Avenue.
That project includes long-term pavement improvements on I-35E and the replacement of the Arlington Avenue Bridge, the Wheelock Parkway Bridge, the Larpenteur Avenue Bridge and I-35E bridges spanning local roadways.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will close I-35E in both directions between Interstate 94 and Highway 36 starting at 10 p.m. Friday.
