Eric Decker poses with a youth attendee of his football camp in his hometown of Cold Spring in the summer of 2013
Cold Spring-native and former Minnesota Gophers receiver Eric Decker has risen to the top of his profession in the NFL, and now has a salary to match.
ESPN reports Decker has signed a 5-year, $36.25-million deal with the New York Jets.
The deal, first reported by Adam Schefter, includes $15-million guaranteed.
The 26-year-old had a career year of 87 catches for 1,277 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2013.
Decker has 222 catches for 3,070 yards in his four-year career, all as a member of the Denver Broncos.
His explosion the past two years with the Broncos - including back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons - made Decker arguably the most desirable wide receiver on the free agent market.
But he will be challenged in his pursuit of reaching those lofty statistics again as he swaps Denver's future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Peyton Manning for unproven New York Jets signalcaller Geno Smith.
Decker should assume a large role in the Jets offense, as they don't possess a true No. 1 receiver.
