Park Center trailed upset-minded Simley at halftime, but dominated the second half on the way to surviving their Class 3A State Girls Basketball Quarterfinal with a 68-53 win.
Simley was up four at halftime, and kept Park Center down until just before the halfway point of the second half, but the Pirates drew even then pulled away thanks to a dominating game in the paint - led by Cayla McMorris' 24 points and 14 rebounds.
Park Center more than made up for the four-point halftime deficit outscoring the Spartans 42-23 in the second half.
Simley built their lead by shooting 47-percent in the first half. While that dropped to 33-percent in the second half, Park Center caught fire atoning for their 33-percent first half with a torrid 57-percent second half.
Park Center will play Minneapolis Washburn in Thursday's Class 3A Semifinals.
