Sarah Kaminski was the only player in double figures for either team as Minnehaha Academy shocked No. 1-seeded St. Croix Lutheran 43-30 in the Section 4AA final on Friday, March 14.
It was a physical, grind-it-out game, and along with her 19 points, Kaminski added 20 rebounds.
“It was physical,” Sarah agreed, “but personally I love physical basketball, like AAU, I love that. I’m really proud of all of our girls, they played through that. Lilly [Thomey] was tough down low. Olivia [West] got bounced around, and Gracia [Gilreath] and Terra [Rhoades], and they all did a great job on their free throws.”
What was even more shocking was the Crusaders incredibly tough night from the field, making 7 of 31 shots in the first half and then declining from there. In the second they made just 3 of 25 shots for a total of 10 of 56, or 18 percent. The shooting woes extended to the free throw line as well, where St. Croix shot 50 percent on 8 of 16 shots.
