A mix-up between the gas pedal and brake led to a car dangling out of a parking ramp in Rochester on Friday morning, according to the city's fire chief.
The woman, who was driving a Buick Lucerne, was suspended over eight stories. She was able to make it out safely, Sgt. John Mitchell said.
The car, which broke through two cables before becoming stuck under a steel beam, could be seen by cars passing the Damon Parking Ramp on the street below, Mitchell said.
The car was eventually pulled back into the garage with help from others, the fire chief said.
There were no signs the woman was impaired, Mitchell said. It appeared as if she was arriving at the parking stall, Mitchell said.
The ramp, which is located on Third Street, is part of the parking facilities at Mayo Clinic.
