A Minnesota Timberwolves forward has been arrested on suspicion of domestic assault in Wayzata early Thursday morning.
Medina police say 26-year-old Dante Cunningham is being held without bail in the Hennepin County Jail.
Police say they were called to a residence in Medina around 4 a.m. on Thursday. Police say Cunningham left the home shortly after the incident, but did not resist arrest when he returned.
Police say the woman involved did not need medical treatment for the alleged assault.
The Timberwolves hosted the Grizzlies at Target Center on Wednesday night, defeating Memphis 102-88. Cunningham played 10 minutes, scoring five points for the team.
The team said he will not be traveling to Miami Thursday afternoon. The Timberwolves face the Miami Heat Friday night.
Charges have not been filed yet.
The Timberwolves issued the following statement:
We are aware of the matter involving Dante Cunningham and are in the process of gathering more information. Dante will not be traveling with the team to Miami this afternoon. The Minnesota Timberwolves organization takes the matter very seriously and does not condone the type of behavior that is associated with this situation. However, we need to let the legal process run its course, and will have further comment at the appropriate time.
