The Minnesota Twins honored manager Ron Gardenhire on Wednesday for reaching a special milestone.
Gardenhire recorded his 1,000th career win as manager on Saturday in Cleveland. The Twins celebrated the feat Wednesday afternoon at Target Field prior to its game against the Oakland Athletics.
Joe Mauer and Glen Perkins presented Gardenhire a humidor filled with cigars on the field. There was also a video featuring some of Gardenhire's milestones.
All of Gardenhire's wins have come with the Twins, the team he has managed for 13 seasons. He is the 10th manager in Major League Baseball history to win 1,000 games with the same team and joins Tom Kelly as the only Twins manager to accomplish the feat.
The Twins have won six division titles under Gardenhire, the last coming in 2010.
