An outbreak of salmonella at an Old Country Buffet in Maple Grove in January was likely transmitted to diners by dinner rolls, according to health officials.
The dinner rolls came in contact with raw chicken at some point, according to Doug Schultz, spokesman for the Minnesota Department of Health. Around two dozen patrons reported illness and one person was hospitalized, Schultz said.
Following a standard outbreak-response inspection, Old Country Buffet was cleared by Hennepin County Environmental Health officials to remain open, Schultz said.
It is up to Hennepin County to decide if the restaurant will be penalized, Schultz said.
