This past weekend I went to Northern Lights Casino in Walker, Minn., to see Dennis DeYoung who was the lead vocalist, keyboard player, producer and songwriter in the band Styx.

The show was amazing.  I have seen many shows at Northern Lights Casino, and I would have to say this was the best one yet.

The place was packed, and I don’t think there was an empty seat in the venue.  You could tell that the fans were extremely excited to see Dennis DeYoung, because over half of the people had Dennis DeYoung or Styx shirts on, and I overheard a lot of people sharing stories with each other about the first time they had seen Styx and how awesome it is to see Dennis live.

You could feel the excitement in the air and the entire auditorium exploded when Dennis came on stage.  Just about everyone stood up and cheered as the band opened with “Grand Illusion.”

Dennis and the band played for almost two hours, and they played all of Styx’s hits also some of Dennis’s solo hits such as “Lady,” “Mr. Robot,” “Too Much Time,” “Desert Moon, and “Blue Collar Man” to name a few.

Dennis’s band was awesome, and they looked like they were having a great time.  I really like it when you can tell that a band enjoys what they are doing and who they are playing with.  Throughout the entire show, each of the members were laughing and interacting with each other, and it made the show fun and very entertaining to watch.

The members of the band are very talented musicians, and they sounded great.  The band was made up of Tom Sharpe (Drums), Suzanne DeYoung (background vocals), Craig Carter (Bass, backing vocals), John Blasussi (keyboards, vocals), Jimmy Leahey (guitar backing vocals), and August Zadra (lead guitar, vocals).

Overall, I really enjoyed seeing Dennis DeYoung and the Music of Styx at the Northern Lights Casino in Walker, Minn.  Dennis still sounds amazing after all of these years, and I think he sounds great live, and he also has an awesome and very talented group of musicians playing with him.  I would highly recommend that if you get the chance to go see Dennis DeYoung in concert, you go.  It is one of the most energetic and entertaining concerts to attend in my opinion. Plus you know all of the songs.
