Officials: Death of 16-Year-Old Boy Pulled from Plymouth Pool Ruled Accidental

A 16-year-old boy drowned while swimming at an indoor pool at an apartment complex in Plymouth on Friday, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

Emergency responders were called to the apartments located in the 15300 block of 37th Ave. around 7 p.m.

The teen was pulled from the pool at the Plymouth Square apartments by a family member and was unresponsive, the sheriff's office said. First responders began CPR at the scene.

The teen was then taken to North Memorial Hospital and was pronounced dead at approximately 8 p.m.

The Hennepin County crime lab, detectives and water patrol are investigating.

The cause of death appears to be accidental, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

The boy's name, cause and manner of death will be released by the medical examiner's office.

No further details have been released.
