Summer is here and finding activities to keep kids occupied can be tough. But a new text message service aims to help parents of students at St. Paul schools solve the problem.

They can sign up for text message alerts notifying them of upcoming summer programs. St. Paul Schools Superintendent Valeria Silva and Mayor Chris Coleman announced the feature Monday.

Along with Sprockets' Program Finder, it offers a tool for parents to be aware of out-of-school activities and programs. It will also text parents tips on how to keep kids active and learning throughout the summer.

To subscribe to alerts, text STPAUL SUMMER to 468311. To get emails sent to you, text STPAUL SUMMER YourEmailHere to 468311.

The summer program text reminders will run through August. Standard messaging and data rates may apply.
