Free concerts are back at Como Zoo this summer with their Groovin’ in the Garden series.

The free outdoor event features Twin Cities musicians, and the first one kicks off Wednesday night with Crankshaft and the Gear Grinders, a rock and roll blues band.

As a special event this week, the band will be plugged into a mobile solar-powered trailer.

The trailer is also used by woodcarving artist Jim Ramsdell as part of a traveling exhibit called "Our Shared Planet." Ramsdell will be in attendance at Wednesday’s Groovin’ in the Garden event to demonstrate his woodcarving skills and promote the "Our Shared Planet" exhibit, which will be on display in Como’s Exhibit Gallery through Labor Day.

The solar-powered trailer is used to transport the exhibit’s sculptures and equipment while promoting sustainability.

Groovin’ in the Garden concerts take place from 6-8 p.m. every Wednesday on the Visitor Center lawn.
