Motorists traveling in the east metro this weekend will be seeing plenty of construction barrels.
Earlier this week, Interstate 35E southbound from Little Canada Road to Maryland Avenue was reduced to two lanes. The roadwork has been causing slowdowns for both I-35E and I-694.
The following ramps in the work zone will stay closed until fall:
· Highway 36 East/West to 35E South
· Little Canada Road to 35E South
· Roselawn Avenue to 35E South
Expect delays along I-494 eastbound from Hardman Avenue in South St. Paul to Maxwell Avenue in Newport this weekend. Crews will work in the left lane from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.
South of the metro, I-35 is single lane both directions near Owatonna. The ramp to the Medford Outlet Mall is closed as well. Take the exit to Clinton Falls instead.
In Central Minnesota, Highway 10 from Cushing to Motley is down to one lane in both directions for the next couple of weeks.
Coming back to work on Monday, don't forget that I-94 will be closing at the Lowry Hill Tunnel in Minneapolis. Crews are set to clean the tunnel overnights, Monday and Tuesday, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. The detour takes drivers to the Hennepin/Lyndale Avenue exit.
Get ready for major delays in St. Paul next week. The Minnesota Department of Transportation says I-35E northbound from Little Canada Road to Maryland Avenue will be restricted to two lanes.
A number of ramps are expected to close as well. Construction in this area lasts until fall.
