The Minnesota Wild put a lot of work into summer projects the past two years. This time, they're on track for a little less activity.
In 2012, the Wild were the stars of the NHL offseason by signing Zach Parise and Ryan Suter. In 2013, they had to shed high-salaried veterans to create more space under the cap and on the roster for an influx of talented prospects.
Now, following the franchise's best season in more than a decade, there are fewer holes. General manager Chuck Fletcher said Monday he doesn't feel the same "sense of urgency" as the past two years.
The Wild have the 18th pick in the first round of the draft Friday. Then unrestricted free agency starts the following week.
