With the Fourth of July coming up this weekend, finding the best place to watch the fireworks can be tricky because of all the great options Minnesotans have. From the beautiful riverfront in Stillwater to the backdrop of downtown Minneapolis, there are plenty of options this year:

Downtown Stillwater

Downtown Stillwater has numerous parks overlooking the river and rooftop bars.  Community members can watch fireworks at the riverfront Lowell Park, up high at Pioneer Park, or at the historic courthouse. You can also take advantage of the bars and restaurants in the area; the Dock Cafe will be open until the fireworks end. The fireworks will begin at 10 p.m. over the St. Croix with a music simulcast on 1220-AM.

St. Paul

Due to the flooding, St. Paul's annual fireworks display will be moved to the State Capitol Mall with fireworks beginning at 10 p.m. Families can bring blankets and take the light rail or bus to avoid traffic and the hassle of parking. Pre-packaged food and beverages are allowed, but grills alcohol, and personal fireworks are prohibited.

The Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce hosts the only public Fourth of July fireworks event on Minnetonka in downtown Excelsior. There will be food vendors like the Greek Gourmet, The Moral Omnivore, Snidy Concessions and Dandelion Kitchen. The festivities will be in the Commons Park beginning at 10 p.m.

Coon Rapids

Coon Rapids is hosting a Fourth of July celebration at Sand Creek Park, located at 1008 Northdale Blvd. in Coon Rapids. Before the fireworks begin at 10 p.m. there will be live music by "Shag," and the band will continue after the fireworks. During the day, there will be a bean bag tournament at 12:30 p.m.

Minneapolis is hosting a Red, White and Boom celebration, scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. The fireworks will be shot from Water Tower Park. A map has been posted to highlight viewing spots, stages, and food.

On the St. Croix River

If you are feeling adventurous, Afton*Hudson River Cruises is offering a fireworks cruise. Without dinner, tickets cost $21.75 for adults and $14 for kids 10-years-old and younger. With dinner, tickets cost $37.95 for adults and $24.95 for kids. Boarding starts at 7:30 p.m., and the cruise runs until 11:45 p.m. A cash bar is available.
