MLB Invites Coon Rapids Girl to Participate in All-Star Game First Pitch

A lot of us are excited for the All-Star game next week, but for one little girl from Coon Rapids the hype has quickly turned into major league disappointment.

A few weeks ago 11-year-old baseball player Sydney Kehr was promised by Coon Rapids National Little League to walk out with a Twins legend to the mound for the ceremonial first pitch during the pre-game of the All-Star game.

This week the league told Kehr they selected a girl softball player to replace her. Kehr found the switch heartbreaking.

After our story aired on 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS Tuesday, Major League Baseball said they have now invited Kehr to participate in the ceremonial first pitch.

In addition, Kehr along with the two other kids who Little League notified would be joining the legend for the first pitch, will also throw out a ceremonial pitch on the field prior to the official pre-game ceremony, according to a response from MLB.
