Usually, a car isn't lit on fire at a summer camp.
But kids at the Cottage Grove 20th annual Safety Camp were treated to a fiery show.
Cottage Grove firefighters demonstrated a vehicle fire, including a fully ignited minivan. The kids could be heard cheering in a video of the presentation that was posted on the Cottage Grove Police Department's Facebook page. A loud pop in the video is one of the airbags deploying.
The event was part of a two-day camp last Tuesday and Wednesday. Participants learned about a variety of safety issues, including bike safety fire prevention, first aid and more.
Another camp hit was when Metro Transit police brought in their K9 unit.
