A man was arrested Friday after an Iowa woman's body was found in a wooded area in rural Dakota County in April.
A property owner in Ravenna Township discovered the woman's body on April 5 near 175th Street East and Presley Circle, according to the Dakota County Sheriff's Office.
The body was later identified as 29-year-old Carrie Olson of Davenport.
Olson had been missing since last year, according to the Davenport Police Department. Officers asked for the public's help in locating her after she failed to show up for work in December.
She was last seen alive at a gas station in a nearby town, according to authorities.
Timothy McVay was arrested Friday in Silvis, Illinois, in connection to Olson's death. Silvis is located 10 miles from Davenport across the Mississippi River.
The 39-year-old faces charges of first-degree murder and concealment of a homicidal death, Davenport Deputy Chief Jason Foy said.
The Rock Island and Davenport police departments, along with the Dakota County Sheriff's Office, Hennepin County Medical Examiner, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Illinois State Crime Lab, Rock Island County State Attorney's Office and Scott County Attorney's Office assisted in the investigation.
