The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office says authorities searched the Anoka County Airport in Blaine on Tuesday afternoon for the man suspected of shooting and killing another man at an Arden Hills gas station.

The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Lyle Marvin Hoffman, A.K.A. Ty Hoffman. Ramsey County authorities say they were following up on tips and searching the airport for signs of Hoffman. Authorities left the scene around 4:30 p.m. and say the search came up empty.

The victim of the shooting has been identified by coworkers as 48-year-old Kelly Phillips. He died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

Phillips was killed during a dispute at a Holiday gas station near Interstate 35W and Highway 96 on Monday morning. He was a vice president and general counsel at Boston Scientific and worked at the Arden Hills office, which is about two miles from where he was killed.

According to witnesses, two men in a BMW parked at the gas pumps and were arguing. They both got out of the vehicle as the dispute escalated, and the driver allegedly shot the passenger, later identified as Phillips, as many as three times as witnesses looked on.

"I have never seen anything like that in my life," said Joshua Polos, one of the first witnesses to call 911. "The driver got out with a pistol, and when the guy in the backseat turned to run, he shot him in the back. He fell to the ground and started begging for his life, screaming."

The driver took off and was last seen heading west on Highway 96 in a dark grey, four-door BMW 535i with license place 004-EYY. Authorities found the car around 11:30 p.m. Monday in Blaine but still haven’t found the suspect.

Boston Scientific is a medical device company. The company says Phillips will be missed.

“Kelly will be remembered not only for his great skills as a lawyer, but also for his kindness, gentleness and ability to make those around him feel better about themselves,” Boston Scientific spokesperson Denise Kaigler said.

Phillips was also the co-founder of Lush Food Bar in Minneapolis. The bar is closed Tuesday in memory of Phillips.

Management and staff released the following statement on its Facebook page: "On behalf of the management and staff of Lush Food Bar, it is with our deepest sympathies that we have to share the tragic death of Lush Food Bar co-founder Kelly Philips. We would like to extend our sympathies to Kelly’s family, his fiancé Nathon and to his many friends. Kelly founded Lush Food Bar five years ago and was a driving force in the community; he will be greatly missed and always remembered."
