A public memorial was held Thursday for a man killed outside a Holiday gas station in Arden Hills earlier this month.

Friends and family remember the life of 48-year-old Kelly Phillips and the many contributions he made to the community. Phillips was a vice president and general counsel at Boston Scientific and worked at the Arden Hills office, which is about two miles from where he was killed.

“Kelly will be remembered not only for his great skills as a lawyer, but also for his kindness, gentleness and ability to make those around him feel better about themselves,” Boston Scientific spokesperson Denise Kaigler said.

Authorities say Kelly Phillips was shot by his ex-boyfriend and business partner, 44-year-old Lyle Marvin Hoffman, A.K.A. Ty Hoffman, who is still at large. Prosecutors have charged him with second-degree murder and issued a national warrant for his arrest.

The memorial was held at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Minneapolis.
